WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will allow users to mention contacts in their status updates. The mentioned person will receive a notification.

This feature, similar to Instagram Stories, will be private, meaning only the uploader and the mentioned person can see it.

It was spotted in the Android 2.24.20.3 beta update but is not yet available for testing.

Users will be able to tag saved contacts, and the mentioned contact will get a message and notification.
