Android 16 will launch in Q2 2025, earlier than usual. Google will now release SDK updates twice a year: a major one in Q2 with changes that might affect apps and a minor one in Q4 with new features and bug fixes but no changes to app behavior. Quarterly updates in Q1 and Q3 will focus only on new features. Google says this will help Android updates better align with device release schedules.
