Opting to bat first, South Africa posted a formidable total of 315/6. Opener Ryan Rickelton led the charge with a well-crafted 103 off 106 balls, supported by captain Temba Bavuma's 58 and Rassie van der Dussen's 52. In response, Afghanistan faced early setbacks due to South Africa's disciplined bowling attack. Rahmat Shah offered resistance with a valiant 90, but wickets fell at regular intervals, leading to Afghanistan being bowled out for 208 in 43.2 overs. Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi were instrumental, each taking key wickets to dismantle the Afghan batting lineup.

This victory provides South Africa with a strong start in the tournament, while Afghanistan will look to regroup ahead of their next fixture.
