Facebook and Instagram services were restored for millions of users after a brief but widespread outage on Tuesday, with many reporting issues accessing the platforms, logging in, and viewing or posting content. The disruption, which appeared to be global, led to a surge of complaints on Downdetector, a site that tracks service outages based on user reports from the US and the UK.

Users across multiple regions found themselves suddenly logged out of their accounts, unable to sign back in, or encountering errors while trying to refresh their feeds. Some also experienced difficulties with messaging and other platform features. Similarly, users also faced issues while accessing the comment section on Instagram, some users could see comments, but they could not interact with them.

While some users tried restarting their phones, some even uninstalled and reinstalled Facebook and Instagram apps. As this was a server-side issue, Meta took slightly over two hours to bring back Facebook and Instagram online.

      Meta has not issued any statement explaining the cause of the outage or when full functionality will be restored. The disruption follows a series of similar incidents in recent years, raising concerns about the reliability of Meta’s infrastructure.
