The Husainabad Clock Tower in Lucknow is one of the city’s most famous landmarks, built in 1881 to commemorate the arrival of Sir George Couper, the first Lieutenant Governor of Awadh. Standing about 221 feet tall, it is considered one of the tallest clock towers in India. Designed in a Victorian–Gothic style, it features detailed brickwork and a lantern-like top. Its clock mechanism was imported from London and includes one of India’s largest pendulums. Located near the Rumi Darwaza and Husainabad Imambara, the tower remains a proud symbol of Lucknow’s royal heritage and historical charm.
